On Friday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the appointment of Marwan bin Ghalita as the new acting director-general for Dubai Municipality (DM). This role adds to bin Ghalita’s current position as the director-general of the Dubai Land Department, where he has established a solid reputation for his leadership and public communication skills.
A Trusted Leader with Strong Public Relations
Sheikh Mohammed praised bin Ghalita for his effective communication with the public and his collaborative approach with other institutions. “He has a good reputation for his communication with the public, facilitating their affairs, and cooperating with other institutions,” said Sheikh Mohammed, highlighting bin Ghalita’s ability to bridge connections between the government and residents.
A graduate of the UAE government’s leadership programme, bin Ghalita brings extensive experience in government leadership, and his new role at DM reflects his growing influence in Dubai’s public sector.
Acknowledgment of Outgoing Officials
In the announcement, Sheikh Mohammed also expressed gratitude to Dawood Abdulrahman AlHajri, the outgoing director-general of Dubai Municipality. AlHajri, who had held the position since 2018, was commended for his hard work, dedication, and contributions during his tenure at DM. Sheikh Mohammed thanked him for his efforts and the positive impact he had on the municipality.
Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed extended his appreciation to Mattar Al Tayer, a key figure who has overseen several government institutions in Dubai, including DM and the Dubai Land Department. Al Tayer’s leadership has contributed significantly to the development of Dubai’s public services, and Sheikh Mohammed recognized his valuable role in the city’s ongoing growth.
A New Chapter for Dubai’s Public Services
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the appointment of new leadership within these institutions marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for Dubai’s service and economic sectors. “Today, these institutions are starting a new phase in their service and economic work and are continuing their journey to make Dubai the best city to live in the world,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
As Dubai continues to innovate and develop, the Ruler’s focus on strong leadership within public institutions will play a crucial role in shaping the city’s future and maintaining its status as a global leader in urban development and quality of life.
